The Fountain Group is a national staffing firm and we are currently seeking a Payroll Tax Specialist for a prominent client of ours. This position is in St. Paul, MN 55117. Details for the position are as follows:
Payroll Tax Specialist (100% Onsite)
Location: St. Paul, MN
Pay: $28/hour
Schedule: Full-time, 100% Onsite
Duration: 6-month assignment, potential to extend or convert to permanent.
We're looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Tax Specialist to join our team in St. Paul, MN. In this role, you'll manage payroll processing, ensure accurate tax filings, and handle statutory deductions and employee compensation components in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and process monthly payroll, including vacation pay, overtime, and other compensation
Ensure accurate calculation and payment of statutory withholdings (e.g., Social Security, income tax, employee guarantee fund, labor dues)
Manage payroll tax filings and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (including FICA)
Process payments related to terminations and dismissals
Address internal payroll-related tickets and collaborate with external tax vendors
Support payroll projects and assist with system testing
Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing process improvements
• Requirements: 2-3 years of payroll and payroll tax experience
Strong understanding of payroll taxes including federal, state, and FICA
Experience with payroll tax filing and statutory payment processes
High school diploma or equivalent required
Strong attention to detail and consistency
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
Project or system testing experience is a plus
