Role Description
This full-time, on-site Associate Veterinarian role is based in Jackson, MI. The Associate Veterinarian will perform routine and complex medical examinations, diagnose and treat illnesses, perform surgical and dental procedures, and develop individualized treatment plans for companion animals. Daily responsibilities include communicating with clients about preventive care, test results, and treatment options, as well as maintaining accurate medical records and collaborating with veterinary technicians and support staff. The role also involves promoting fear‑free, low‑stress handling, participating in patient follow‑up, and contributing to a positive, team‑oriented clinic culture. Participation in staff training required; client education initiatives, and community outreach may be expected.
Qualifications
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited institution and eligibility for Michigan veterinary licensure.
Experience in small animal general practice, including wellness care, internal medicine, and basic emergency assessment.
Competence in routine soft‑tissue surgery and dentistry, including anesthesia, pain management, and post‑operative care.
Strong clinical skills in physical examination, diagnostics, and development of evidence‑based treatment plans.
Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain medical information clearly and empathetically.
Commitment to fear‑free and low‑stress handling techniques and a strong focus on patient welfare.
Ability to work collaboratively within a veterinary team and support a respectful, inclusive workplace.
Basic computer proficiency for electronic medical records and practice management software.
Willingness to participate in continuing education and stay current with advances in veterinary medicine.
