Job description

Alternating 3-Day Weekends | 1-2 LVTs per DVM | Work/Life Balance & Sanity Valued Here

Take advantage of this opportunity to focus your passion for veterinary medicine and contribute to companion pet health and wellbeing. Marschall Road Animal Hospital is an established and well-respected, privately owned clinic in Shakopee, MN (southwest metro). We are widely known for our pleasant, relaxed work environment, flexible scheduling, and friendly, compassionate care.

We actively advocate for your sanity, mental/emotional wellness, and actual work/life balance. If you have a good sense of humor, are fun-loving yet professional, and value mutually respectful interactions with both staff and clients, you will fit right in.

Job Summary & Schedule:

We offer shifts that help support your life outside of work, with NO on-call shifts and NO after-hours emergencies. We welcome both full-time and part-time applicants. Our current full-time schedule features a reasonable caseload volume and results in alternating 3-day weekends that can easily stretch out your PTO:

Week One: Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (with a 1-hour lunch break).

Week Two: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (with a 1-hour lunch break) plus Saturday from 8:00 AM to Noon.

Qualifications we are looking for:

To help us provide consistent, high-quality care, we are looking for a doctor who brings the following to our team:

Education & Licensure: A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree and current licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in Minnesota.

Experience Level: We prefer a minimum of one year of clinical experience in a small animal practice, but newer graduates are absolutely welcome to apply! We provide reliable onsite mentorship and collaboration.

Clinical Skills: Comfort with or a desire to grow in general medicine, patient appointments, common soft tissue surgeries, and dental and oral health procedures.

Interpersonal Qualities: Strong communication skills, emotional intelligence, empathy, and a collaborative spirit.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Your day-to-day responsibilities will be typical for an associate veterinarian position, kept at a highly manageable volume:

Providing patient examinations, preventive veterinary care, and general medicine.

Performing oral health assessments and dental procedures.

Conducting common soft tissue surgeries, diagnostic imaging, and interpreting lab results.

Utilizing modern tools—we use electronic Idexx Cornerstone records, the Vello texting app for quick client conversations, and we are currently exploring AI-assisted SOAPs and imaging interpretation.

Our Facility & Support Staff:

Where would we be without our incredible team? You will be supported by skilled, experienced Licensed Veterinary Technicians at a ratio of 1-2 LVTs per doctor, alongside additional assistants and CSRs. Our happy staff and low turnover translate directly into a better workflow for you.

Our facility is fully equipped with an in-house lab, digital rads, digital dental rads, ultrasound, surgical monitoring, electric cautery, tonopen, and a reference lab with twice-daily pickups for same-day turnaround. Mentorship and external imaging/surgical consults are easily accessible.

Wage and Benefit Package:

Salary: Straight salary of $120,000 - $135,000 (negotiable based on experience and schedule).

Health & Wellness: Health and dental insurance, plus a fitness membership stipend.

Time Off: Generous PTO and paid holidays.

Professional Growth: CE allowance and dedicated CE time off, plus coverage for license/membership renewals, DEA license renewal, and professional liability insurance.

Perks: Uniform allowance, employee discounts, and plenty of intangible workplace support!

Ready to meet us?

We would love to learn more about you and what you're looking for in your next veterinary home.
