Role Description

The Associate Veterinarian is a full-time, on-site role based at Curtner Pet Hospital in San Jose, CA. This role involves performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating medical conditions, and developing treatment plans for dogs and cats. The veterinarian will conduct routine and advanced procedures, including vaccinations, dental care, soft tissue surgery, and basic emergency care. Daily responsibilities include interpreting diagnostic tests, maintaining accurate medical records, communicating clearly with clients about their pets’ health, and collaborating with veterinary technicians and support staff. The Associate Veterinarian will also help ensure compliance with veterinary standards, contribute to practice protocols, and participate in patient follow-up and client education.

Qualifications

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited institution and eligibility for licensure in California.

Clinical skills in small-animal medicine, including physical examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, and routine surgical and dental procedures.

Experience with diagnostic tools such as laboratory testing, radiography, and other imaging modalities used in general practice.

Strong communication and interpersonal abilities for explaining medical conditions, treatment options, and preventive care to diverse clients.

Ability to work collaboratively with veterinary technicians and support staff in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Commitment to ethical, evidence-based veterinary care, patient safety, and client service.

Willingness to participate in continuing education and stay current with advances in veterinary medicine.

Prior experience in a small-animal clinical environment is preferred but new graduates with strong fundamentals are welcome to apply.Mentorship will be provided.
