nThe Automotive Technician Trainee is an entry-level role within Belle Tire's Auto Tech Development Program, designed to develop the next generation of Certified Automotive Technicians. This structured, hands-on development program pairs trainees with an experienced Auto Tech Mentor to build technical skills, gain real-world shop experience, and progress into a fully qualified Automotive Technician role within 6 months.
nThis role is ideal for individuals currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an automotive technology program who are looking to accelerate their career in the automotive industry. Trainees will gain exposure to a wide range of vehicle systems while working in a fast-paced retail environment where you'll work on real customer vehicles and build skills that translate directly to your career .

nnOne-on-one mentorship with a certified Automotive Technician

nnHands-on training across key automotive systems and repair areas
n
nnDefined competency milestones and career progression
n
nnOpportunity to earn ASE certifications and transition into a full Automotive Technician role
n
nnSuccessful completion of the Auto Tech Development Program may lead to promotion into a Certified Automotive Technician role, with continued growth opportunities within Belle Tire.

n nWhat You'll Do
nUnder the guidance of a certified Automotive Technician Mentor, the trainee will:
nnnProperly secure vehicles to lifts and alignment machines to ensure safe operation
n
nnAssist with diagnosing vehicle issues and performing necessary repairs
n
nnSupport general automotive service tasks including brakes, suspension, and basic maintenance
n
nnLearn and apply proper repair techniques across multiple vehicle systems
n
nnCommunicate effectively with team members and assist in explaining repairs when needed
n
nnDeliver high-quality workmanship to ensure customer satisfaction
n
nnStay current with evolving automotive technology, tools, and repair processes
n
nnMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
n
nnAssist with maintaining a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
n
nnComplete required training milestones and program competencies
n
nnPerform other duties as assigned by store leadership
n
n nWhat We're Looking For
nMinimum Qualifications :
nnnCurrent student or recent graduate (within 6 months) of an ASE- accredited automotive technology program
n
nnCompletion of coursework in brakes and steering/suspension preferred
n
nnState of Michigan Mechanic Trainee Permit (or ability to obtain within required timeframe )
n
nnValid driver's license with acceptable driving record
n
nnMust obtain required tools within designated timeframe (program support available)
n
n nPreferred Qualifications:
nnnASE certifications (A4, A5, A6 or relevant areas)
n
nnPrior hands-on automotive experience (school, internship, or shop environment)
n
n nPhysical Requirements:
nnnAbility to stand for extended periods of time
n
nnAbility to safely lift up to 75 pounds to chest level
n
nnFrequent bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and use of hands/wrists consistent with automotive repair work
n
n nWork Environment
nThis position is based within a tire and automotive service retail store . Varying work hours, Monday through Saturday . Fast-paced workshop setting with physical demands, including extended standing and heavy lifting.
