Job description
We are working with a $100M American manufacturer with an opening for a Senior Automation Design Engineer. This position will design and build machinery and systems for their four manufacturing facilities in Cincinnati, OH; Wooster, OH; Ft. Wayne, IN; and Columbia City, IN.
Responsibilities
Scope, design, specify, procure and build machinery and equipment for manufacturing.
Create 3D CAD models, detail and assembly drawings, design layouts, BOMs, and tolerance application.
Collaborate with machined, lasered, and purchased parts suppliers.
Work closely with the manufacturing team to generate innovative and cost‑effective, data‑driven projects focused on process and equipment improvements.
Travel: 60–80%; most travel will be between Wooster, Cincinnati, and Fort Wayne.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5+ years of experience in machine design.
Experience with modern manufacturing technologies.
Knowledge of regulatory and safety standards in manufacturing.
Familiarity with ERP systems and how data integration can optimize their effectiveness.
