About the Role:

The Automotive Apprentice or Entry Technician role is designed to provide foundational experience and training in automotive repair and maintenance within a professional shop environment. The primary goal is to develop technical skills through hands-on work under the guidance of experienced technicians, enabling the apprentice to diagnose, service, and repair a wide range of vehicle systems. This position serves as a critical stepping stone for individuals seeking to build a long-term career in automotive technology by gaining practical knowledge of tools, diagnostic equipment, and repair procedures. The role requires a commitment to learning and safety, as well as the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining high-quality workmanship. Ultimately, the apprentice will contribute to customer satisfaction by supporting the team in delivering reliable and timely vehicle service.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Basic understanding of automotive systems and mechanical aptitude.

Strong willingness to learn and take direction from experienced technicians.

Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications: Completion of or enrollment in an accredited automotive technology program.

Previous experience in an automotive service environment, even in a non-technical role.

Familiarity with automotive diagnostic software and tools.

Basic knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and computer diagnostics.

Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.

Responsibilities: Assist experienced technicians with vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and repairs to gain practical experience.

Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks under supervision.

Learn to use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical and electrical issues in various vehicle systems.

Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.

Follow all safety protocols and shop procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.

Document work performed and communicate effectively with team members to support efficient workflow.

Participate in ongoing training sessions to develop technical knowledge and stay current with automotive technologies.

Skills:

The required skills such as mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn are essential for performing daily tasks like assisting with vehicle repairs and maintenance.
