nUtility Worker C&D Scrap Metals – Houston, TX Pay: $16.00 – $19.00 per hour Job Type: Full-Time Expected Hours: 38 – 45 hours per week
nMon-Friday, Saturdays as needed
n6 am-2:30 pm
nAbout the Role
nC&D Scrap Metals is seeking a hardworking and reliable Utility Worker to join our Non-Ferrous Area in the Automotive Department. This full-time position plays a key role in supporting both the scrap yard and warehouse operations, making it a cross-functional role with diverse responsibilities. The Utility Worker helps with receiving and processing metals, operating equipment, and assisting across departments to ensure smooth and safe daily operations. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
nKey Responsibilities
nFollow directions from the General Manager to support yard and warehouse operations.
nAssist in receiving, unloading, and processing customer materials.
nSort, clean, and prepare metals for sale and distribution.
nOperate a forklift safely after certification is obtained.
nSupport baling operations and general equipment use.
nMaintain cleanliness and organization across yard and warehouse work areas.
nDeliver excellent customer service by providing assistance and representing the company in a professional manner.
nWork Schedule & Travel Requirements
nFull-time
nSome travel to additional job sites may be required depending on operational needs.
nPosition Requirements
nAbility to lift up to 75 lbs.
nStrong physical stamina, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.
nAbility to work independently with minimal supervision.
nWillingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
nMust be safety-minded and capable of following procedures.
nForklift experience is preferred but not required—training and certification can be provided.
