nJob Description:
nUPS is currently seeking a reliable Automotive Technician to join our outstanding fleet maintenance team. He/She will maintain a diverse range of equipment including delivery vehicles, heavy duty on road tractors and trailers from a variety of manufacturers. Powered vehicle propulsion includes diesel, gasoline and alternative technology power plants (including compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, propane, hybrid and electrical in some locations). Automotive Technicians must be skilled in troubleshooting and maintaining various systems including hydraulic brakes, air brakes, electrical and engine control. nAutomotive Technicians must be willing to work 2nd or 3rd shifts, including Monday through Friday, Sunday through Thursday as well as Tuesday through Saturday schedules, depending on the location’s need. UPS offers attractive wages, benefits and paid vacations. Uniforms are also provided. Automotive Technicians must possess the required hand tools required to perform the applicable job assignment.
nResponsibilities and Duties
nnnMeets D.O.T requirements required by job assignment.
n
nnBends, stoops, squats, kneels, crouches, crawls, climbs ladders and stairs, stands, walks, and turns/pivots frequently throughout duration of workday.
n
nnSits infrequently, as required, throughout duration of workday.
n
nnExercises simple hand grasping, power hand grasping, fine hand manipulation, and reaching from foot level to above shoulder level as necessary to complete assigned tasks.
n
nnOperates standard and manual transmission.
n
nnOperates power and pneumatic tools.
n
nnMeets all requirements to be Power Industrial Truck Operations (PITO) certified.
n
nnRepairs all UPS diesel and electric vehicles.
n
nnEnsures all vehicles are maintained regularly and in a timely manner.
n
n nKnowledge and Skills
nnnCurrent documented automotive mechanical experience
n
nnExperience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools and personal computer.
n
nnPossesses full complement of personal hand tools.
n
nnClass A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Preferred
n
nnWorks full-time shifts: 8-10 hours per day, 4-5 days per 7-day week.
n
nnDependable with ability to report to work on a regular and timely basis and complete scheduled workday on a consistent basis.
n
nnAvailable to work varying shifts, additional hours and/or overtime depending on service needs.
n
nnWears personal protective equipment as required.
n
nnWorks in an environment with variable temperatures and humidity (climatic conditions), exposure to cleaning materials, petroleum products, dust, dirt, and noise, outside inclement weather, etc.
n
nnWorks cooperatively in a diverse work environment.
n
nnCommunicates effectively through sight, hearing, and/or otherwise, to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions.
n
nnAbility to lift 70 lbs./32 kgs.
n
nnAbility to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment and occasionally outdoors.
n
n nOur compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The starting pay for this position is $40.11 per hour. For union-represented postings, wage rates and ranges and benefit offerings are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions.
nHired applicants are eligible for weekly pay, extensive training, 401(K), defined-benefit pension plan, medical-dental and vision after waiting and or probation period, $0 healthcare premium, paid vacation, paid sick and family and medical leave time as required by law, paid holidays, discounted employee stock purchase program.
