AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) with Level II UT (Shear-Wave)Title: AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) with Level II UT (Shear-Wave)Location: Moon Township, PA / Greater Pittsburgh Area Schedule: On-Site (Project-Based) Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: $35 - $50 hourly, depending on experience and qualifications. Per diem and travel reimbursement may be available for qualifying projects.About the PositionHRV Conformance Verification Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) with Level II UT (Shear-Wave) certification to join our growing team in the Greater Pittsburgh area. This position supports civil engineering projects including bridges, structural steel fabrication, and transportation infrastructure by performing welding inspections and nondestructive testing to ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and client requirements.The successful candidate must be local to the Greater Pittsburgh area, as most work will be performed throughout Western Pennsylvania. Occasional overnight travel may be required to support projects outside the local area; however, travel is typically limited to short assignments lasting only a few days at a time. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, fabricators, project managers, and clients.Primary ResponsibilitiesWelding Inspection & Nondestructive Testing (90%)Perform visual welding inspections in accordance with project specifications and applicable AWS codesPerform ASNT Level II UT (Shear-Wave) examinations of structural steel weldsEvaluate weld quality and identify discontinuities, defects, and nonconforming conditionsReview welding procedures, welder qualifications, and supporting quality documentationVerify material identification, fit-up, welding operations, and completed weldsEnsure compliance with AWS D1.1, AWS D1.5, ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and client-specific requirementsInterpret ultrasonic testing results and document inspection findingsPrepare detailed daily inspection reports and supporting documentationCommunicate inspection findings with contractors, fabricators, project managers, and clientsMaintain inspection equipment and calibration recordsFollow and promote safe work practices on active project sites and fabrication facilitiesProject Documentation & Administrative Responsibilities (10%)Prepare and submit accurate daily and/or weekly inspection reports documenting work performed, inspection findings, testing results, and compliance with project specificationsMaintain organized inspection records, photographs, and supporting project documentationSubmit weekly timesheets and expense reports accurately and on time in accordance with company proceduresParticipate in project meetings and communicate inspection findings with project managers, contractors, and clients as requiredAssist with project closeout documentation and other inspection assignments as business needs requireMinimum QualificationsCurrent AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certificationCurrent Level II UT (Shear-Wave) certificationMinimum of 1 year of welding inspection and ultrasonic testing experienceMust be local to the Greater Pittsburgh areaValid driver's license with an acceptable driving recordAbility to travel occasionally as project needs require, including periodic overnight assignmentsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and access elevated work areasAbility to prioritize multiple assignments while maintaining exceptional attention to detailPreferred QualificationsExperience inspecting structural steel fabrication, bridges, and transportation infrastructureExperience performing shear-wave ultrasonic testing on structural steel weldsExperience with state DOT or other government infrastructure projectsKnowledge of AWS D1.1, AWS D1.5, ASTM, AASHTO, and applicable DOT specificationsOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 CertificationAbility to interpret structural drawings, welding symbols, welding procedures, and contract documentsExperience preparing inspection reports and project documentationAbility to build positive working relationships with contractors, project managers, and clientsWhy Join HRV?Competitive compensation with overtime opportunitiesPer diem and travel reimbursement for qualifying assignmentsOpportunity to work on high-profile bridge and infrastructure projectsCollaborative team environmentProfessional development and certification supportStable and growing professional services organization with over 22 years of industry experienceNationwide and international project opportunitiesHRV Conformance Verification Associates, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other protected characteristic.HRV promotes affirmative action for minorities, women, individuals with disabilities, and veterans.HRV is a smoke-free and drug-free workplace.
