AWS Certified Welding InspectorTitle: AWS Certified Welding InspectorLocation: Northeast, Southeast, Mid-West USADescription: Location: Southeastern, United States Schedule: On-Site (Project-Based) Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: $35 - $50 hourly, depending on experience and qualifications. Per diem and travel reimbursement may be available for qualifying projects.About the PositionHRV Conformance Verification Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our growing team supporting bridge, structural steel, and transportation infrastructure projects throughout the Baltimore, Maryland area.This position is responsible for performing quality assurance inspections of structural steel fabrication and welding activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, AWS codes, client requirements, and applicable industry standards. The successful candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, fabricators, project managers, and clients.Primary ResponsibilitiesWelding Inspection (90%)Perform quality assurance inspections of structural steel fabrication and welding operationsInspect welds in accordance with AWS D1.1, AWS D1.5, and applicable project specificationsVerify welding procedures, welder qualifications, and fabrication processesReview material certifications, welding documentation, and quality control recordsInspect fit-up, weld preparation, welding operations, and completed weldsIdentify welding defects and document non-conforming workCoordinate corrective actions with fabricators, contractors, and project personnelEnsure compliance with project specifications, AWS standards, DOT requirements, and applicable codesPrepare detailed daily inspection reports and supporting documentationCommunicate inspection findings with contractors, project managers, and clientsMaintain inspection equipment and calibration recordsPromote and maintain safe work practices on active fabrication shops and project sitesProject Documentation & Administrative Responsibilities (10%)Prepare and submit accurate daily and/or weekly inspection reports documenting work performed, inspection findings, and compliance with project specificationsMaintain organized inspection records, photographs, and supporting project documentationSubmit weekly timesheets and expense reports accurately and on time in accordance with company proceduresParticipate in project meetings and communicate inspection findings with project managers, contractors, and clients as requiredAssist with project closeout documentation and other inspection assignments as business needs requireMinimum QualificationsCurrent AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certificationMinimum of 2 years of welding inspection experienceExperience inspecting structural steel fabrication and welding operationsValid driver's license with an acceptable driving recordHigh school diploma or equivalentProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and internet-based reporting systemsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and access elevated work areasAbility to prioritize multiple assignments while maintaining exceptional attention to detailAuthorization to work in the United States without sponsorshipPreferred QualificationsExperience performing inspections in accordance with AWS D1.1 and AWS D1.5Experience inspecting highway bridges, transportation infrastructure, or structural steel fabrication projectsExperience with state DOT or other government infrastructure projectsFamiliarity with AASHTO, ASTM, and applicable DOT specificationsNDT certifications (UT, MT, or PT)OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 CertificationExperience reviewing welding procedures (WPS), procedure qualification records (PQR), and welder qualification records (WPQ)Experience preparing inspection reports and project documentationAbility to interpret structural drawings, welding symbols, and fabrication documentsAbility to build positive working relationships with contractors, fabricators, project managers, and clientsWhy Join HRV?Competitive compensation with overtime opportunitiesPer diem and travel reimbursement for qualifying assignmentsOpportunity to work on high-profile bridge and infrastructure projectsCollaborative team environmentProfessional development and certification supportStable and growing professional services organization with over 22 years of industry experienceNationwide and international project opportunitiesHRV Conformance Verification Associates, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other protected characteristic.HRV promotes affirmative action for minorities, women, individuals with disabilities, and veterans.HRV is a smoke-free and drug-free workplace.
