Job description
Batch Room LeadThe Batch Room Lead is a hands-on, floor-based leader responsible for coordinating day-to-day batching operations within ColdSnap's production facility. This role directs daily activities, supports team execution, and ensures the accurate, efficient, and compliant production of liquid mixes across our product portfolio, including ice cream, soft serve, protein shakes, smoothies, cocktails, and lattes.The Lead works closely with the Production Supervisor/Manager and plays a critical role in training, troubleshooting, and driving execution on the floor. This position does not carry full supervisory authority but is essential to maintaining operational flow, food safety, and quality standards.Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and lead daily batch room operations, including task assignments, workflow, and execution on the floorConduct and ensure accurate weighing, measuring, and staging of ingredients according to formulations and batch sheetsOperate and support batching equipment, including mixing tanks, homogenizers, heat exchangers, and related systemsPerform and/or oversee automatic CIP (Clean-in-Place) cycles and other cleaning and sanitation proceduresConduct and verify titration testing of cleaning chemical dilutions to ensure proper concentrationPartner with production team to ensure timely supply of finished mixes to canning and packaging linesMaintain strict adherence to GMPs, SQF standards, food safety requirements, and sanitation protocolsReview and verify batch records, documentation, and traceability logs for accuracy and complianceEnsure proper sample collection, labeling, and submission for QA/QC testingTroubleshoot process issues and serve as the first point of contact for on-floor problem solvingEscalate equipment, quality, safety, or personnel concerns to the Production Supervisor/Manager as appropriateTrain and support batch room personnel on procedures, safety, and best practices; provide coaching and feedback to leadershipSupport continuous improvement efforts in batching efficiency, yield, and cost controlAssist with audit preparation and maintain audit readiness at all timesQualifications3–5+ years of experience in food or beverage manufacturing, preferably in a high-volume production environmentPrior experience as a lead, senior operator, or informal team leader in a batch room or similar operationHands-on experience in SQF (or equivalent GFSI) certified facilitiesStrong knowledge of batching systems and processing equipment (mixing tanks, homogenizers, heat exchangers, etc.)Familiarity with canning or aseptic/retort processes is a plusSolid understanding of GMPs, food safety standards, and sanitation requirementsExperience with ingredient handling, allergen controls, and lot traceabilityStrong attention to detail with batching documentation and record-keepingAbility to read and follow formulations, SOPs, and production schedulesProficiency in basic computer systems (ERP and/or manufacturing execution systems (MES) experience preferred)Has or is willing to obtain a valid forklift certification in accordance with OSHA requirementsKey CompetenciesAbility to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentAbility to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (QA, Production, Maintenance)Maintains composure and sound judgment under pressureStrong willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within the roleLeadership through influence and example (floor-based leadership)Attention to detail and accuracyProblem-solving and decision-makingOrganization and time managementStrong communication skillsCommitment to food safety and qualityPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods and work in a manufacturing environmentAbility to lift and handle raw materials (50lb bags, 60lb buckets, etc.)Comfortable working around food processing equipment, temperature variations, and wet environmentsComfortable safely handling job-related chemicals in accordance with safety procedures and PPE requirementsWhy ColdSnapJoin a fast-growing, innovative food company redefining frozen and ready-to-drink experiences.
