Job description
Batch Room Production WorkerThe Batch Room Production Worker is a hands-on, floor-based role responsible for assisting Batch Room and Production Teams in the large-batch production of ColdSnap's product portfolio. This role works under the direction of the Batch Room Lead and Production Supervisor/Manager to help ensure the accurate, efficient, and compliant production of liquid mixes, and supports the canning line and other areas of the production floor as production needs require. This is a great role for someone who thrives in an active environment and has experience in the food industry.Principal Duties & ResponsibilitiesFollow daily task assignments and direction from the Batch Room Lead and Production Supervisor/ManagerMonitor machines and appliances and adjust as needed to prepare for a production runComprehend written instructions and recipes from the company when putting together ingredients and starting a new batchMeasure and load raw ingredients into the mixer by following company recipes and industry standardsAssist the Batch Room Lead with weighing, measuring, and staging ingredients according to formulations and batch sheetsSupport the operation of batching equipment, including mixing tanks, homogenizers, heat exchangers, and related systems, under the direction of the Batch Room LeadRemove the finished product from the production line and push batches to the next step in the process for cooling, canning, or packagingAssist with CIP (Clean-in-Place) cycles and other cleaning and sanitation procedures as directed by the Batch Room LeadVerify that each raw ingredient and the finished product meet the quality standards of the company by observing sensory characteristics such as smell, taste, color, and appearanceAssist with sample collection, labeling, and submission for QA/QC testing as neededSanitize all materials and machinery parts at the end of each shift and clean the workspace by following company cleanliness standardsLearn food safety and quality assurance protocols at the instruction of the Food Safety Manager and Batch Room Lead, and put them into practice when working in the Batch RoomCommunicate equipment issues, quality concerns, or process delays to the Batch Room Lead promptlyAssist on the canning line and in other areas of the production floor (e.g., packaging, labeling, staging) during periods of lower Batch Room activity, as directed by the Batch Room Lead or Production SupervisorCrosstrain on canning and packaging line functions to support flexible staffing needs across the production floorQualificationsCompletion of a high school diploma or GED programAbility to follow all appropriate safety standards in food productionKnowledge of basic math and reading comprehension skillsExperience working in food production or in an industrial kitchen (preferred)Knowledge of quality assurance practices / basic GMPs (preferred)Ability to take direction from and work collaboratively with the Batch Room LeadWillingness to cross-train and support multiple areas of the production floor, including the canning line, as business needs requireKey CompetenciesAbility to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentStrong attention to detail and accuracyReliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions closelyTeam-oriented, with a willingness to support other areas of the production floor as neededCommitment to food safety and qualityComfortable working around food processing equipment, temperature variations, and wet environmentsComfortable safely handling job-related chemicals in accordance with safety procedures and PPE requirementsPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods and work in a manufacturing environmentAbility to lift and handle raw materials (e.g., 50 lb bags, 60 lb buckets)
