CASA volunteers help children thrive
Thirteen-year-old Maya experienced more change than any child should. After seven moves in foster care, Maya’s CASA volunteer worked especially hard to understand exactly what made her feel safe, supported, and connected. She advocated for Maya to remain in a stable school environment, supported her in maintaining important relationships, and she ensured every conversation with professionals and the court about Maya’s future considered her needs. By protecting Maya’s best interests and bringing her voice to the court, the CASA volunteer helped move her closer to the safe, permanent home and lasting support she – and every child – deserved. Over time, Maya was able to build stronger connections with the caring adults in her life and move clearly toward a future where she felt secure, supported, and finally at home.
