We're more than a human services agency—we're partners in transformation, walking alongside you on the journey to a fuller, richer life.We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Mental Health Medical Biller to manage our revenue cycle for a multi-office practice, ensure accurate insurance processing, and act as a supportive advocate for our clients and clinical staff.For 40 years, Aurora has been a leader in providing customized services that support individuals with disabilities, chronic mental illness, and traumatic brain injuries in residential settings. We value employees that are passionate about making people smile every day by empowering them to live as independently as possible.Key responsibilities include:Submit clean claims: Process and submit electronic and paper insurance claims (CMS-1500) for outpatient mental health services.Denial resolution: Review daily claim rejections, manage explanation of benefits (EOBs), and appeal denied or underpaid claims.Payment reconciliation: Post insurance and client payments, manage account balances, and run aging AR collection reports.Manage authorizations: Coordinate and track prior authorization requests.Client communication: Clearly communicate copays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket estimates to clients with empathy and clarity.Provider Compliance: Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and data security standards for private medical records.Qualifications and skills:Required:Experience: One-year certificate from college or technical school; or 6+ months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, with a strong preference for mental/behavioral health billing.Technical skills: Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms and clearinghouses.Industry knowledge: Solid understanding of mental health terminology, CPT codes (e.g., 90837, 90834), and standard ICD-10 coding.Attributes: High emotional intelligence, attention to detail, and a calm, customer-service-oriented approach when handling financial discussions with clients.Preferred:Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Coder (CMC) designation.Experience navigating public insurance programs (e.g., Medicaid, Medicare) alongside commercial panels.Benefits may include:Option to get paid before paydayEmployee discount - Verizon and DellHealth InsuranceLife InsuranceDental InsuranceVacation/Personal HoursEmployee Stock Ownership401-KEmployee Achievement ProgramLongevity Bonus for Part Time or Full Time EmployeesCasual dress (no uniforms), fun work atmosphereAnd moreSalary Range: $40-$45,000If you are looking to make a difference, join the Aurora team!
