Behavioral Health Consultant
Job Description
The Behavioral Health Consultant will serve as a behavioral health and substance abuse consultant within the facility. Key duties include conducting behavioral health assessments, evaluations, and diagnoses of detained non-citizens, providing supportive counseling and psychotherapy, and utilizing the electronic medical record for clinical documentation. The consultant will also promote multidisciplinary treatment approaches, coordinate with various healthcare teams, and facilitate continuity of care for detained non-citizens with mental health conditions. Additionally, the role involves behavioral health case management, team leadership, and education and training for healthcare staff on various behavioral health topics.
Key Responsibilities:
Behavioral Health Clinical Practice: Serves as a consultant, conducts assessments, provides counseling, utilizes EMR, promotes multidisciplinary treatment.
Behavioral Healthcare Planning, Evaluation, and Development: Coordinates with healthcare teams, provides education, reviews reports, participates in performance improvement, assists in accreditation.
Behavioral Health Care Coordination: Maintains communication with healthcare providers, collaborates on treatment plans, coordinates continuity of care, provides referrals, offers consultation on specialized needs.
Behavioral Health Case Management: Facilitates referrals, works with legal counsel, maintains registry, establishes liaisons, ensures continuity of services.
Team Leadership/Administration: Serves on policy workgroup, participates in peer review, attends meetings, conducts competency training, provides education on behavioral health topics.
