Job description
Medical AssistantIf you became a medical assistant to take care of people, not to race through 60 strangers a shift, this is your office. At Tru Medical you work with the same providers and the same patients, and they will know your name too.Tru Medical is an award-winning adult primary care practice serving East Williamsburg and Clinton Hill in Brooklyn. We are a NYS-accredited Patient-Centered Medical Home, a multi-year insurance quality award winner, and our patients rate us 4.87 stars. Our providers offer primary care, women's health, chronic care for diabetes and hypertension, ultrasound, walk-in visits and telemedicine. Our mission is Quality Affordable Care for All. Many of our patients are Spanish-speaking, and for a lot of them we are the first office where someone listened. We are small enough that providers and managers know your name, and we are growing, so people who live our values move up.These are not words on a wall. This is what they look like here every day:We listen, repeat back, and clarify. With patients and with each other, we say back what we heard and ask "is that what you meant?" before we act.We know our patients' names. People are not chart numbers here.We help even when someone is having a hard day and taking it out on us. We stay kind, stay professional, and keep trying to solve the problem. We ask for help when something isn't working. Nobody here is expected to struggle quietly. Speaking up early is a strength. We know when to step away. If a situation is heating up, we pause or bring in a teammate so the patient gets a better outcome. We take initiative. When there is no patient in front of us, we ask a teammate or manager, "what can I help with?"This isn't for you if:You want to do only what is in your job description and nothing else. You take it personally when a patient is upset, or you need to win the argument. You would rather guess than ask a question, or hide a mistake than flag it.Downtime means phone time. You are looking for a short stop. We are building a team that stays. What you will do:Room patients, take vitals and enter them in the chart accuratelyDraw blood, run EKGs and assist providers with in-office procedures within your scopePrepare the provider for each visit: reason for visit, medications, gaps in careExplain next steps to patients in English and Spanish, and confirm they understoodKeep rooms stocked and clean, and help the front desk or a teammate when your rooms are emptyWhat you need:Fluent Spanish and English (required)Completed medical assistant training program1+ year in an outpatient medical officeExperience with an EMR. eClinicalWorks is a plus, and we train.Phlebotomy experience preferredWhat you get:Paid time off and paid holidays401(k)Paid training on eClinicalWorksA real path: Medical Assistant to Lead MA to Health CoachA team that answers when you ask for helpCompensation: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
