Job description

Billing Specialist SupervisorThe Billing Specialist Supervisor role is an integral part of Latham's Revenue Operations team. This role will be responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Revenue Operations team in their assigned office and for ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures of the firm, while advising the department regarding billing procedures and policies and serving as the primary point of contact for billing-related questions or concerns. This role will be located in our Washington D.C. office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.Other key responsibilities include:Partnering with billing attorneys, secretarial staff, and clients to review, prepare, finalize, and send invoices and resolve any problems encountered by the Revenue Operations staffMonitoring the billing and collection cycles, following up on the same with the billing attorneys, billing staff and clients, ensuring that the client-matters' billing parameters (paying entity, rates, tax implications) are properly set upEnsuring departmental goals and objectives are met by overseeing accurate and timely completion of assignments, inquiries, and recurring activities, including quarterly inventory campaigns, year-end collections and inventory management, e?billing coordination, and other high?priority, time?sensitive tasksPreparing invoices for finalization in line with internal and external regulation and legislation including Value-Added Tax (VAT), Criminal Finances Act Solicitor's Accounts Rules, and Money Laundering regulationsPreparing and analyzes client billing requestsParticipating in routine calls and conferences with partners and management on financial inventoryProtecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retainsWe'd love to hear from you if you:Demonstrate well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication; displaying an ability to interact with people at all organizational levelsPossess an ability to take initiative and work both independently and lead teams with a customer-service focusKnowledge of 3E or EliteExhibit organizational skills to manage time well, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines and supervise the work of others to ensure compliance and accuracy, while using independent judgment for decision-makingAnd have:A minimum of three (3) years of billing experience including billing processes and practices in an international law firm or professional services organizationA minimum of five (5) years of typical years of cumulative experienceBachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or related fieldBenefits & Additional InformationHealthcare, life and disability insuranceA generous 401k planAt least 11 paid holidays per year, and a PTO program that accrues 23 days during the first year of employment and grows with tenureWell-being programs (e.g. mental health services, mindfulness and resiliency, medical resources, well-being events, and more)Professional development programsEmployee discountsAffinity groups, networks, and coalitions for lawyers and staffLatham & Watkins is an equal opportunity employer.
