Legal Billing Specialist
Location: Uniondale, NY, US
Cullen and Dykman LLP is a full-service law firm that has been serving clients since 1850. We are seeking a full-time Legal Billing Specialist to join our high-volume Billing Department in our Uniondale office.
What You'll Do
In this role, you will support the firm's billing operations by ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant invoice processing for a large portfolio of insurance defense matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Process monthly and quarterly client billing invoices.
Review client billing instructions to ensure full compliance with guidelines.
Research and resolve billing issues; collaborate with partners, assistants, and billing staff to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Submit and monitor e-billed invoices; resolve discrepancies and rejected invoices promptly.
Track delayed payments and follow up as needed.
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance preferred.
2+ years of relevant billing experience, required
Experience with legal billing systems and time & billing software is a plus.
Knowledge of standard billing processes, including invoice formatting, timekeeper allocations, and paperless billing workflows.
Experience with electronic billing platforms, including client/matter setup and time entry troubleshooting.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Ability to work accurately and efficiently under time-sensitive deadlines.
Prior experience in a law firm environment, highly preferred.
Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with all levels of firm personnel and client contacts.
Willingness to work extended hours during billing deadlines.

Salary Range: We offer a competitive salary, an excellent benefits package and a collaborative, friendly environment. The salary range for this role is $55,000-$70,000. Actual salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.
