Job description
Bindery Basic Equipment Operator, ON, Printing Services - Lakeland | Publix Super Markets, Inc.The main function of this position is to finish and package printed products. This requires the set-up and assembly of single and/or multiple components into a final product, either manually or by operating the following basic bindery/finishing equipment: shrink-wrapper, 30-inch cutter, padding racks, rubberstamp assembly, three-hole drill, spiral punch & binder, tab laminator & cutter, stitcher, box maker, table-top folder, table-top laminator, and high-speed punch. Responsibilities:Responsible for the accurate reading and comprehension of written job specifications. Job specifications provide the production details of each job/finished product.Responsible for the set-up and manual assembly of single and/or multiple components into a final kitted product.Responsible for the safe and efficient set-up and complete operation of all basic bindery/finishing equipment.Responsible for the correct packaging, correct labeling, and safe palletizing of final products.Responsible for the safe and efficient basic operator maintenance and cleanliness of all the equipment (and their respective work areas).Responsible for the timely and accurate accounting and reporting of production time and materials, via shop-floor data collection terminals.Required Qualifications:High school diploma or its equivalent,Basic math and measurementKnowledge of basic volume and weightMechanical skills and abilitiesPhysical abilities, including: continuous lifting of up to 70 pounds, continuous walking/standing (up to 14 hours/day), bending and squattingWritten and verbal communication skillsInterpersonal and teamwork skillsProblem solving skillsAdaptability and versatility (change) skillsIncumbent must be willing and able to work variable work schedules (sometimes with short notice) when and as required by the work load, which may include weekend and/or holiday hoursPreferred Qualifications:High School diploma plus bindery trade school training/diplomaOne year of trade bindery work experienceBindery trade certification(s)Knowledge of chain-of-custody (CoC) processes and procedures, specific to the correct procedures for segregation and identification of both raw materials and finished productKnowledge of set-up and operational knowledge of all equipmentKnowledge of basic mailing regulationsPublix and Printing Services job and code numbering systemsKnowledge of shipping and distributionShop Floor Data Collection, via Monarch Data Collection (thin net) TerminalsSafety Data Sheets (SDS), Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Knowledge of general Publix and Printing/Mailing Services' policies and procedures (attendance/punctuality, plant security, safety, etc.)General printing knowledge, particularly with regard to the principles of binding and finishing and the ability to recognize problems that could adversely affect the quality of the finished productHours of Work: 6:45pm – 5:30am; Monday - ThursdayFrequency of Pay: WeeklyMinimum Base Pay: $16.65Maximum Base Pay: $23.05Potential Annual Base Pay: $34,632 - $47,944Year End Bonus: To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week's pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check.
