Bindery Technician - New Company in ChicagoA new commercial printing company in Chicago is seeking an experienced Bindery Technician to join its production team. This position requires a versatile finishing professional who can independently set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain multiple pieces of bindery equipment.ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate multiple types of bindery and finishing equipmentReview job tickets, samples, and production specifications before beginning each jobPerform accurate machine setups, changeovers, and adjustmentsMonitor quality throughout production and make corrections as neededTroubleshoot mechanical, feeding, registration, and finishing issuesPerform routine preventive maintenance and minor equipment repairsInspect completed work for accurate folds, cuts, signatures, pagination, binding, and overall appearanceMaintain production speeds while minimizing waste and downtimeRecord production information and communicate job status to supervisorsFollow all company safety, quality, and housekeeping proceduresAssist with training less-experienced bindery employees when neededEquipment ExperienceQualified candidates must have hands-on experience with at least one type of commercial bindery or finishing equipment, such as:Polar, Saber, or similar programmable paper cuttersStahl, MBO, Baumfolder, or similar folding machinesMuller Martini, Heidelberg, or similar saddle stitchersPerfect bindersThree-knife trimmersDie cuttersPunching and drilling equipmentShrink-wrapping and packaging equipmentCollators, booklet makers, laminators, UV coaters, or other finishing machineryQualificationsMinimum of three years of commercial printing, bindery, or finishing experience preferredDemonstrated ability to independently operate multiple pieces of bindery equipmentStrong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skillsAbility to read job tickets, production specifications, measurements, and folding diagramsKnowledge of paper stocks, grain direction, coatings, adhesives, and finishing processesStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityAbility to work efficiently in a deadline-driven production environmentWillingness to work overtime when production demands require itAbility to stand for extended periods and safely lift materials used in bindery operationsCompensation and BenefitsCompetitive hourly compensation based on bindery experience and equipment knowledgeOvertime opportunitiesMedical, dental, and vision insurancePaid holidays and paid time offRetirement planStable, full-time employment with an established commercial printerHiring for First, Second and Third ShiftsApply TodayIf you are an experienced bindery professional who can set up and operate finishing equipment, we would like to speak with you.
