Job description
Folding Machine OperatorResponsible for set up and operation of folding machinesDuties/Responsibilities:Set up folder machine in accordance with job ticket instructionsOperate folder machine and makes necessary adjustmentsComplete production records on computer (run times, quantities, waste, set-up times, etc.)Loan and maintain supply of sheetsPackage finished materials for next process or shipmentSort/inspect material for quality purposesOperate lift equipment to move pallets of materialPerform preventative maintenance on folder machines such as lubrication and general cleaning of folderPerform other bindery duties as requestedFollow all required safety procedures such as: PPE's ergonomics, chemical hazards, etc.Perform job in a manner that protects the health and safety of all employeesPrompt and regular attendanceWork overtime as neededStay late or come in early with short noticeBasic Qualifications:Self-motivatedAbility to read and understand written instructions, including those dealing with measurements and qualityAbility to apply written instructions to machine set-upGood knowledge of folder operations and set-up practicesKnowledge of all procedures required to safely operate a folder machineKnowledge of the operation and function of the other bindery equipment and machinerySatisfactory performance is required in these areas: 1) Feeder, 2) Rollers/Plates, 3) Support Equipment, 4) Quality, 5) Safety, 6) Maintenance, 7) Personal Practices. See attached list for criteriaAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to complete routing reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees and departments to obtain information and/or instructionsAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solver/troubleshoot problems in a timely mannerPhysical Requirements:Mandatory hearing protection while in the plantModerate chemical exposure consisting of cleaning products and possible exposure to ink jet ink and wash, which is a hazardous substance. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and chemical protective gloves are required when using ink jet products.Majority of this job requires standing for approximately 90% of the dayAbility to lift 20 lbs.Inside temperature ranges are on the warm side all year long.Dust exposure in the Bailer Room$20 - $25 an hour
