About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Bioinformatics Scientist to join their advanced research initiatives in Paarl . This position focuses on the analysis of large-scale biological datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics, to uncover novel biological insights and support drug discovery efforts. You will collaborate with experimental biologists and computational biologists to interpret complex data and drive research forward. The ideal candidate will possess strong computational skills, a deep understanding of biological principles, and a passion for leveraging data to solve complex scientific challenges in a dynamic research setting.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze and interpret large-scale biological datasets using various bioinformatics tools and pipelines.
Develop and implement computational methods for data processing, quality control, and statistical analysis.
Collaborate with experimental teams to design studies and interpret results from high-throughput experiments.
Identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets through data-driven approaches.
Visualize and communicate complex data findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in bioinformatics, computational biology, and relevant biological domains.
Requirements
Ph.D. or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
Proven experience in analyzing diverse biological datasets (e.g., genomic , transcriptomic, proteomic).
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R and experience with bioinformatics libraries.
Familiarity with common bioinformatics databases and tools (e.g., BLAST, Ensembl, GATK).
Strong statistical and machine learning knowledge relevant to biological data analysis.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment.
