Job description
Block Advisors Accounting SpecialistAs a Block Advisors Accounting Specialist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records for our clients. You will support account managers by documenting transactions, preparing reports, and assisting in compliance with financial regulations. Provide bookkeeping and payroll services to Block Advisors small business clients including accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, financial statement generation, sales tax filing, bank reconciliation, and other miscellaneous bookkeeping and payroll services as needed. Partner with Tax Advisors to deploy an effective two-way referral method to assist in the overall development of the business services client base serviced by Block Advisors.Responsibilities include:Processing various forms of financial information and materials. Enter financial information into accounting or other financial systems, while complying with relevant reporting requirementsHandling basic accounting tasks, including data entry, bank reconciliations, and payroll managementAssisting the Tax Advisors with tax return data entry and uploading returns to the Block Advisors Fulfillment NetworkPerforming reconciliation of accounts and categorizing transactions appropriately. Compiling monthly and quarterly reporting as neededRaising questions and addressing client accounting irregularities, providing excellent customer servicePartnering with Account Managers and Tax Advisors, providing relevant bookkeeping and payroll information to support the delivery of various servicesPreparing financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statementsCommunicating with account managers, clients, client suppliers, vendors, and banking contacts. Assisting in client service coverage as needed to ensure service deliveryAssisting in the generation of Block Advisor growth opportunities and increase retention through referrals and partnershipsRequired Qualifications include:High school diploma or equivalentKnowledge of bookkeeping practices, generally accepted accounting principles and proceduresNational Bookkeeper and Payroll certifications from the National Bookkeeping Association or ability to successfully obtain certificationsMicrosoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Open Office experienceAbility to multi-task in multiple window applicationsFamiliarity with bookkeeping software, spreadsheets, and database management. Local minimum wage laws apply. This information is posted pursuant to local requirements to provide applicants with information about what they might be eligible to receive. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan. Qualifying associates can enroll themselves and/or their eligible dependents in medical and prescription drug coverage; can participate in the H&R Block Retirement Savings Plan (401(k) Plan), the Employee Assistance Program, (virtual) fitness center programs, and the associate discount program; are automatically enrolled in Business Travel Accident Insurance; and receive Associate Tax Prep benefit.Pay Range: $17.64 - $26.49/Hr.
