Associate Blood Collection Specialist (Phlebotomist)Bloodworks Northwest is backed by more than 70 years of Northwest history and 250,000 donors. Join our fantastic team supporting our surrounding communities!About the Associate Blood Collection Specialist role:The Blood Collection Associate will perform whole-blood procedures on blood donors, demonstrating a strong commitment to quality standards, blood supply safety, and the donor experience. This position offers 8 weeks of paid on-the-job training. The Associate Blood Collection Specialist position has career advancement opportunities to Blood Collection Specialist I, II, III, and IV levels.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Screening and taking vital signs of potential donors/patients and evaluating their eligibility following Bloodworks' policies/proceduresAnswering donor questions to ensure they are giving informed consent to donation and blood testingPerforming donor identification, properly labeling blood components for venipunctures for whole blood, and test tubesPerforming whole blood collection procedures on donorsMonitoring/caring for donors with adverse reactions to the donation processSealing blood units and preparing blood component shipmentsFollow universal precautions and biohazard safety standards for handling bloodProperly documenting and performing quality controls to uphold Bloodworks and FDA standards to maintain the safety of the blood supplyInteracting with team members and donors in a knowledgeable and professional mannerPosition Requirements:High School education or GED equivalent requiredOne year of strong customer service work experiencePossess and maintain a valid State Driver's License in the State of residence with an acceptable driving record for at least 2.5 years.Previous healthcare and blood banking experience is a plusAdditional healthcare-related certifications are desirableAbility to stand for prolonged periods, bend and reach to perform repetitive motions, and lift and carry up to 60 poundsWork flexible shifts with the ability to travel to various work locations within a 50-mile radiusAbility to fulfill Washington State Health Care Assistant Certification (category A at a minimum) requirements.Ability to attend an 8-week training programExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to follow SOP and have a strong attention to detail, with proficiency in Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, OutlookBloodworks is a community-supported non-profit organization; as such, from time to time, incumbents can expect to work with volunteers.Benefits and Perks:Employees regularly scheduled for 24+ hours per week are covered by medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, with family coverage also available.
