Job description
Boiler OperatorA boiler operator is in charge of shift operation of the Boiler House to maintain continuous steam supply to the hospital for heat, hot water, sterilization, and related uses. Boiler house procedures and related boiler codes provided in the Boiler House Procedure Manual must be adhered to at all times.Position highlights:Quality of life: Where career opportunities and quality of life converge.Advancement: Strong orientation program, generous tuition allowance, and career developmentWork/life: Positions and shifts to accommodate all schedules.Responsibilities:Starts and stops boilers and adjusts controls to maintain required steam supply.Monitors boiler firing rate, flame conditions, water level, flue temperature, and fuel supply.Follows Boiler House Procedure Manual in checking safety devices and relays on each boiler.Checks feed water pumps and supply system each shiftChecks natural gas system regulators, automatic valves, and vents for leaks and proper operation each shiftChecks air compressor, dryer, filters, and blow downs each shiftChecks flue gas system for proper operation including automatic dampers, damper controllers, and heat recovery equipment for leaks and general conditionWhat you will need:3 years high pressure steam boiler operation and repair preferred with emphasis on high pressure pumps and electro-pneumatic controls.High school diploma or equivalent.Valid driver's licensePay range: $19.20 - 26.63Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
