Boiler / Refrigeration OperatorLocation: Rochester, NY (on-site) Schedule: 12-hour rotating shift (8-week rotation): 2 days (6:00am– 6:00pm), 2 nights (6:00pm–6:00am), then 4 days off Direct Hire Pay: $25–$43/hrAbout the RoleJoin a large industrial utilities team supporting a well-established multi-building manufacturing/industrial campus in Rochester. You will operate and maintain industrial boilers, steam distribution, compressed air, industrial water systems, and refrigeration/water treatment equipment. Working hands-on in the plant and monitoring/adjusting systems through a DCS.What You'll DoPerform routine inspections of boiler room, refrigeration, and water treatment systems; document operating data; adjust controls as neededOperate/monitor boilers, turbines, water treatment plant, and distribution systems in coordination with shift operations teamsSupport repairs on equipment and distribution piping as neededSample/test chemical treatment systems and unload bulk chemicalsSupport shutdowns/startups, including lockout/tagout (LO/TO)Maintain equipment housekeeping and operabilityHelp develop/update standard operating proceduresPerform maintenance tasks as needed (refrigerant handling, leak repair, pump packing adjustments, etc.)Support overhead distribution piping systemsComplete required recordkeeping/inspections and follow all safety protocolsWhat We're Looking ForHigh school diploma or GED2+ years in an operator/mechanic role (industrial environment preferred)Working knowledge helpful in: refrigeration systems, cooling towers, water treatment, piping systems, building structures, steam turbinesStrong communication skills; able to work across all levels of an organizationProficient with MS OfficeAbility to learn industrial software quickly (examples used on site may include CMMS, compliance/tagging tools, DCS/HMI platforms, and historian software; expected ramp-up ~3–4 months)Valid driver's license with proof of insuranceLicensing / Certifications (Must Obtain After Hire)City of Rochester S-3 Stationary Engineer License within 14 monthsCity of Rochester R-4 Refrigeration Operator License within 18 monthsNYSDOH 2a Water Treatment Operator certification within 16 monthsUS EPA Universal Refrigerant Handling certification within 12 monthsWork Environment & Physical RequirementsWork in hot/cold ambient conditions at times; moderate plant noise levelsTravel between buildings on a large industrial campus; appropriate PPE requiredOccasional bending/walking/carrying equipment; must be able to lift up to 50 lbsMust be able to work the rotating shift schedule described aboveSystem One, and its subsidiaries including Joulé and Mountain Ltd., are leaders in delivering outsourced services and workforce solutions across North America.
