Job description
Border/Zipper SewerBeing a Border/Zipper Sewer includes piecing borders together, running the appropriate welt in them and running zippers in backs, ottomans and pillows to spec. Monday - Thursday, 6:30am - 4:00pm (some overtime)Specific Responsibilities:Standard operation procedures.Must be able to read ticket and job notes for directions and specifications before sewing.Run zipper and/or border machinesPull borders to remove excess welt cordThread/re-thread machineryInstall rolls of zipper into machinery/attach zipper flies for zippingExercises care and follow the proper safety procedures to prevent injuries to themselves and their co-workers. May perform other duties/special or non-routine assignments as needed.Tools Used While Performing Duties:Sewing machine ScrewdriverScissors Tape MeasureZipper machine TweezersBorder machineRelationships and Contacts:Supervisory Relationships:Reports to Department SupervisorOrganization Relationships:Works with other sewers on a daily basis as needed. Ability to adapt to a team oriented, production atmosphere is required.Education, Experience and Skill Requirements:High School graduate helpfulGood Communication Skills – oral and written.3+ years' experience in production upholstery fabric sewing in an upholstered furniture manufacturing environment preferred.Read and Follow Instructions
