Brake Press & Laser Operator - Metal Fabrication
Location: Columbia City, IN
Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour, depending on experience
Shifts:
* 1st Shift: 5:30 AM - 4:00 PM
* 2nd Shift: 3:30 PM - 4:00 AM (+$3.00 shift premium)

This position combines brake press operation and laser cutting to produce high-quality metal components according to blueprints and production specifications.

Job Summary
The Brake Press & Laser Operator will set up and operate brake press and laser cutting equipment to form, bend, and cut metal components. This role requires the ability to interpret blueprints, adjust machine settings, inspect finished parts, and troubleshoot equipment to maintain quality and production efficiency. Key Responsibilities
* Set up and operate brake press machines to bend and form metal components according to work orders and blueprints.
* Operate laser cutting machines to cut, shape, and modify metal materials to meet specifications.
* Select appropriate tooling and adjust machine settings to ensure accurate results.
* Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work instructions, and production specifications.
* Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications.
* Make necessary adjustments to maintain product quality and accuracy.
* Perform routine machine cleaning, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
* Document production activities and promptly report equipment issues or quality concerns.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
* Follow company safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements.
* Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines.
* Perform additional duties as needed to support fabrication operations.
Qualifications & Physical Requirements
* 1-2 years of brake press, laser cutting, CNC, or related manufacturing experience preferred.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
* Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to set up equipment, adjust machine settings, and perform basic troubleshooting.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
* Knowledge of manufacturing safety procedures and safe equipment operation.
* Ability to stand for extended periods.
* Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* High school diploma or equivalent preferred; technical training or certification is a plus.
