Job description

Brazer / Brazing OperatorThis entry-level Brazing Operator role focuses on torch brazing primarily copper-to-copper joints used in high-conductivity power distribution components for electric vehicles and industrial power systems. You will learn to create high-strength, leak-proof bonds using manual oxygen-fuel torches while following detailed work instructions and safety procedures in a clean, organized production environment.ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate hand-held oxygen-fuel torches to heat copper components to the correct temperature for alloy flow.Apply flux and filler metals, including silver and phosphorus-copper alloys, to create clean, high-conductivity joints between copper plates, terminals, and tubes.Clean and degrease copper surfaces prior to brazing to ensure proper bonding and joint quality.Use jigs and fixtures to align parts accurately according to blueprints and work instructions.Remove flux residue and oxidation after brazing and ensure parts meet cleanliness standards.Perform thorough visual inspections to verify complete capillary action, bond integrity, and overall joint quality.Follow strict safety protocols when working with pressurized gas cylinders, open flames, and ventilation systems.Handle and use hand and power tools safely and effectively during part preparation and finishing.Maintain a neat, organized work area and contribute to a clean, well-structured production environment.Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and quality standards.Essential SkillsPractical brazing or soldering experience, particularly on metal components.Comfort working with and controlling a blow torch for high-temperature brazing operations.Experience with hand tools and power tools in a manufacturing or general labor setting.Hands-on hand-soldering experience for electronic or mechanical assemblies.Through-hole soldering experience on components and assemblies.Ability to follow safety procedures when working with open flames and pressurized gas cylinders.Capability to read and follow basic blueprints or work instructions for part alignment and assembly.Strong attention to detail for visual inspection of brazed and soldered joints.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience as a brazing operator, soldering technician, or in a related welding or torch-based role.Familiarity with copper materials and copper-to-copper joining processes.Comfort working in a general labor or production environment with running equipment.Interest in learning more advanced brazing, soldering, and welding techniques over time.Why Work Here?You join a global technology organization whose products are integrated into vehicles, agricultural equipment, bicycles, aircraft, and many other everyday applications. You may work on either 1st shift (6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) or 2nd shift (2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.), using manual oxygen-fuel torches, blow torches, hand tools, and power tools to process copper components. The environment emphasizes safety, orderliness, and comfort while working around industrial equipment and brazing operations.Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Rolling Meadows, IL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
