Job description

Bridge BuildersConstructors Inc., a NEBCO Company, is one of the largest heavy highway paving, asphalt paving and concrete paving companies in Southeastern Nebraska. NEBCO, Inc. is a fourth-generation, family-owned and operated business, with more than 1,100 employees spanning 50 locations across Nebraska.Constructors, Inc. is searching for a highly motivated Bridge Builders to join our team. This position performs work, under supervision of foreman or superintendent, related to the construction, maintenance, and repair of bridges.Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Consistent and reliable attendance is required. Work may be away from home requiring overnight stays possibly a week at a time or longer.Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Constructs bridge related structures and other concrete structures according to specification including prefabricated or built-in place decking with overhangs for bridges.Performs bridge building tasks such as building wood and metal forms for the casting of concrete structures, tying rebar walls and cages, and setting concrete girders.Assists with pouring, grading, and finishing of concrete.Properly erects and dismantles all forms and other supports.Communicates with supervisory personnel to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.Participates in and promotes safety procedures to promote a safe working environment including compliance with all safety rules and regulations.Performs other duties as assigned and needed on the job site.Position requirements and education:A High School diploma or GED or related field; and3 years of experience in bridge construction; oran equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Licenses, certifications, and registrations:Valid Driver's LicenseOther skills and abilities:Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.Working knowledge of materials and construction concepts.Ability to properly manage and prioritize resources.Team player, with strong leadership skills, who can operate effectively in a team environment.Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers and all levels of management.Ability to work in high production environment and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines.Ability to prepare layouts of projects by estimating height, width, length, and other proportions and accurately read/interpret blueprints preferred, but not required.Benefits include:Retirement PlansPAID HolidaysPAID Time OffWellness Program - with the opportunity to earn five additional days offInsurance BenefitsOn the Job TrainingWorking conditions while performing the duties of this job include:Standing; walking; sitting; use hands, and fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.Must be able to navigate construction stages and landscape of a project.The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.The employee is occasionally exposed to hot and cold weather conditions.The noise level in the office environment is usually very load in the field.Condition of employment: Candidate is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements. Approval of pre-employment reference & background checks, and post offer drug/alcohol testing with fit for employment screening (if required) are required as conditions of employment.
