This federally funded design-build project involves the repair and reconstruction of approximately 33 bridges damaged by Hurricane Helene, located within a scenic and rugged section of national forest. This roleThis is an exciting opportunity for inspectors with transportation or infrastructure experience who are comfortable working in field-based, outdoor environments.What You'll DoConduct daily, on-site inspections of bridge and structural construction activitiesEnsure compliance with contract documents, specifications, and applicable federal/state standardsInspect concrete placement, formwork, reinforcement, foundations, framing, and related componentsPrepare clear, accurate Daily Inspection Reports (FS ) and Contract Daily Diaries (FS )Report non-conforming work, safety issues, and structural deficiencies to the COR/COTrack contractor progress and report any deviations from the approved scheduleTake and catalog photographic documentation of construction activities per project protocolsParticipate in safety briefings, field inspections, and coordination meetings with the USDA Forest Service and contractor teamWhat is Required:Minimum 5+ years of bridge and structural inspection experience on infrastructure or transportation projectsDemonstrated experience with reinforced concrete, steel structures, foundation systems, and bridge rehabilitationFamiliarity with federal construction QA/QC standards and documentation procedures preferredAbility to work in outdoor environments, including rugged terrain and active construction sitesStrong written communication, documentation, and reporting skillsReliable transportation and availability for full-time, field-based work over the course of the projectSalary Range: $25.00 to $32.00 an hour, plus benefitsPhysical DemandsThe incumbent in this position can typically expect to sit and use his/her hands to handle and feel for more than 1/3 of the day. He/she can expect to stand or walk for more than 2/3 of the day. Talking and listening are also expected for more than 2/3 of the day. The ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, or reach with arms will be needed for less than 2/3 of the day.This position requires that the incumbent be able to lift items up to 70 pounds on an infrequent basis.The incumbent in this position should have clear vision at 20 inches or less. He/she should be able to view various reports and forms as well as information displayed on a computer monitor and have the ability to distinguish between different colors.
