Job description

Description

Teton Valley Health is seeking a Broad-Spectrum Rural Family Physician (without OB) to join our physician team in Driggs, Idaho. This position offers the opportunity to practice rural medicine in a collaborative critical access hospital while serving a close-knit mountain community. Physicians in this role care for patients in both inpatient and outpatient clinic settings, without obstetric or emergency room responsibilities.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position follows a mixed rural practice model , supporting both hospital and clinic services. In the current staffing structure, physicians provide 7 days of hospital coverage followed by 7 days off , ensuring consistent inpatient care and availability to support other service lines. During times of lower inpatient census, physicians may offer limited same-day acute care clinic appointments , helping expand access for community members while maintaining hospital coverage as the top priority.

As the physician team grows, the practice will transition to a traditional rural mixed model with approximately three weeks of outpatient clinic and one week of hospital coverage . This structure supports continuity of care while maintaining strong inpatient coverage for the hospital.

CLINICAL OVERVIEW

Physicians in this role practice full-spectrum family medicine , including:

Comprehensive outpatient primary care for adults and children

Preventive care and chronic disease management

Same-day acute care visits when hospital coverage allows

Inpatient rounding and hospital admissions

Collaboration with emergency, surgical, and specialty services

Hospital follow-up care and care coordination

Opportunities may exist to incorporate additional services based on physician training and interest, such as women's health, procedural care, etc.
