Building Maintenance SupervisorJob Classification Title: Building Maintenance Supervisor Working Title(s): Building Maintenance Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Pay Grade: Grade 11This job classification description is intended to be generic in nature and not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities. The specific tasks/duties may vary based on position assignment and as determined by the District.Job Classification SummaryResponsible for supervising custodial operations at school sites and performing maintenance and minor repairs on buildings and/or grounds.Distinguishing CharacteristicsThis is a supervisory, skilled trades classification responsible for overseeing maintenance contracts/projects; maintaining inventory of custodial equipment and supplies; assigning work and maintaining custodian schedules.Essential DutiesIn-person attendance is an essential function of this classification.Oversees contracts to completion of project;Instructs custodians and other assigned staff verbally and in writing regarding routine preventive maintenance activities on buildings;Supervises assigned staff and participates in related activities such as scheduling, discipline, etc.Organizes set-ups for district and site events as well as facility lease groups.Maintains inventory of custodial/maintenance supplies and equipment;Cleans all school areas and equipment in the building including kitchen/cafeteria building;Performs ongoing preventive and emergency maintenance and minor repairs on all building systems, custodial equipment, playground equipment and building structures;Performs a variety of repairs on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, locks, and painting/drywall;Maintains grounds, equipment, bleachers, parking lots and sidewalks;Performs normal operator adjustments, service and replacement to facility equipment.Maintains records on operational and maintenance activities, utilizes and trains staff to use the district work order system, and prepares various reports as directed;Maintains sprinkler and or irrigation systems;May be required to assist in Food Service Department; and,Performs related work as assigned.KnowledgeMethods, tools, and materials of the painting and carpentry trades.Related structural occupations engaged in building repairs and alterations.SkillsSupervising crews of skilled and semi-skilled workers.Interpreting blueprints and specifications.Maintaining records.Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.Minimum Qualifications (for new hires at job entry)Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED and five years of experience; or an equivalent combination ofdirectly-related education and experience.Required Certifications/LicensesArizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC).Valid Arizona Class D Driver's License.Class History InformationCreated: 11/2021Amendments: 6/2026
