Job description
Building Maintenance WorkerThe Building Maintenance Worker maintains the physical integrity of facilities by performing custodial, groundskeeper, semi-skilled building maintenance, and repair duties.Essential Functions:Performs general campus, buildings, grounds, and custodial maintenance and repairsChecks and monitors heating and cooling unitsPower washes sidewalks and building exteriorsClears walkwaysOperates security alarm systemsOrders, receives, controls, and issues maintenance supplies and equipmentPaints classrooms and other areasPerforms grounds maintenance and landscaping dutiesMaintains and supervises daily campus activities and maintenance staff in the absence of the Campus Facility SupervisorRequired Qualifications:High School diploma or GED equivalentTwo years of building maintenance or custodial experienceA valid Arizona State Driver's LicenseKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:Skill in performing general preventative and corrective building and grounds repairs and maintenanceAbility to use and maintain tools and equipmentAbility to follow established safety policies, procedures, and practicesSkill in planning, prioritizing, and completing assignments with minimum supervisionAbility to follow verbal and written instructions and proceduresAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingAbility to provide excellent customer experiencesCommitment to create and sustain a thriving learning and working environment for students and staffAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationshipsAbility to use initiative within organizational policies, procedures and guidelinesPhysical Demands and Working Environment:Work is performed throughout campuses and District facilities, both indoors and outdoorsWork requires exposure to hot and cold temperatures, potentially dangerous tools and equipment, and hazardous chemicalsPhysical ability to perform all of the essential functionsMay be required to lift objects weighing up to 50 poundsThe Board is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination in relation to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability or sexual orientation, as well as gender identity, gender expression and immigration status.
