Job description

Bundle Shop ForemanOhmstede Ltd. is in search of a Bundle Shop Foreman to lead day-to-day operations of the bundle shop, overseeing personnel, equipment, and production activities related to the assembly, repair, and testing of shell and tube heat exchanger bundles. This role is responsible for executing the production schedule, maintaining quality and safety standards, and driving crew performance through direct, hands-on leadership.This position requires a working foreman mindset—actively involved in the work while leading the crew to meet schedule, quality, and safety targets.Direct and execute daily bundle shop operations, including:Bundle assemblyTube loading, expanding/rolling, and weldingBundle insertion, exchanger assembly, prep for shipment, and hydrostatic testingEnsure all work is performed in accordance with drawings, manufacturing procedures, and work instructions.Maintain a safe working environment and enforce all safety policies and proceduresEnsure lifting and safety equipment is routinely inspected and fit for service.Monitor and ensure compliance with inspection test plan and code quality manual.Drive production to meet schedule commitments and customer deadlines.Plan and assign manpower daily based on production needs.Coordinate labor, materials and equipment to maintain workflow continuityLead and supervise shop personal to meet productivity and performance expectationsAccomplishes product assembly by supervising employees, planning, organizing and monitoring workflow.Leadership & Team Development:Supervise, train, and mentor shop personnelSet expectations for performance, quality, safetyAddress performance issues and drive accountability across the crewPromote a team-oriented, results-driven work environmentProduction Management:Monitor job progress and adjust manpower/resources to meet schedule.Identify and remove production bottlenecksCoordinate with machine shop, weld shop, QC, and receivingEnsure efficient use of labor hours and shop resourcesQuality Control:Verify workmanship at critical stepsCoordinate with QC/Inspection for hold points and testingMinimize rework through proactive oversightSafety & Compliance:Conduct job briefings and ensure hazard awarenessEnforce PPE and safe work practicesEnsure compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirementsDocumentation and Reporting:Track job status and report progress to managementInitiate Engineering Change Requests for clarification or missing documentsSupport labor tracking and job-hour accountabilityAssist with required documentation for production, safety, and personnel mattersSkills Preferred:Strong understanding of:Shell & Tube heat exchanger construction and repairShop processes across machine, weld, and assembly operationsFamiliarity with ASME and TEMA requirementsAbility to troubleshoot fit-up, alignment, and fabrication issues in real timeComputer skills, specifically the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.Education:High school diploma or equivalentTrade school, technical training, or apprenticeship preferred (welding, machining, or fabrication)Experience:5+ years of experience in heat exchanger manufacturing, repair, or similar heavy fabrication environment2+ years of supervisory or foreman-level experience in a shop settingHands-on experience with:Bundle assembly and disassemblyTube installation and expansion/rollingStructural welding and fit-up coordinationHydrotesting and final assembly operationsWork Environment:Cold, hot, dusty, dirty, noisy, requires a 50 pound lifting ability. Must be able to bend, lift, push/pull, climb, squat, crawl, and reach overhead.
