Job description
The School Bus MonitorThe School Bus Monitor rides the school bus and acts as an aide to the bus driver, assisting the students with medical needs, documentation/paperwork, and controlling behavior.Job QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma or GED preferredAbility to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects weighing 50 poundsAbility to complete designated tasks indoors and outdoors year roundAbility to climb, balance, stoop, bend, lift, reach, kneel, stand, and have hands in waterAbility to work extended periods in various temperaturesAbility to tolerate a noisy work environmentKnowledge:Communicates effectively and promotes good public relations with students and administratorsWorks with peers/supervisors in a considerate and cooperative manner and assists others when neededDemonstrates patience and care for studentsAbility to understand and follow directionsDuties and ResponsibilitiesAttends work every day on timeExhibits a professional attitude and demeanor at all times in dealing with the School Board, school administrators, fellow employees, parents, students, and the publicRides bus to ensure physical and emotional safety of childrenKeeps appropriate records pertaining to problems arising on the busLearns daily route directions to assist substitute bus driversAssists with loading and unloading, lifting as well as seating, safety belting and fastening childrenFamiliarizes self with wheelchairs, mobility chairs, and other types of seating equipmentAssists the driver in maintaining cleanliness of bus and other equipmentPerforms other duties as assigned by supervisor.Security Clearance: The Glynn County School System requires a criminal background check and fingerprinting on all new employees, including all substitutes and other designated employees.Workdays: 180Compensation Range: $12,234-$15,181*Salary is commensurate with experience.FY25/C2/RW02 This document provides information about the above Glynn County Schools position.
