Job description
Business Development Intern – Community Partnerships
Vaccine Vets is looking for a motivated Business Development Intern to help us expand our weekend pop-up vaccine clinic locations across Southern California.
This is not a traditional product sales role. Instead, this role focuses on researching, contacting, and developing potential host locations where Vaccine Vets can operate affordable pop-up vaccine clinics for dogs and cats.
We are looking for someone who is strong at lead generation, research, outreach, follow-up, and organization. The ideal candidate is comfortable using AI tools, can manage high-volume outreach, and is excited to help a growing pet healthcare startup build partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and community locations.
Responsibilities
Research potential host locations for weekend pop-up vaccine clinics
Build lead lists of cities, parks, pet-related businesses, community centers, shelters, nonprofit organizations, local businesses, and other possible clinic locations
Use AI tools to support research, lead generation, outreach drafts, and follow-up organization
Contact potential host locations by email, phone, LinkedIn, and other channels
Follow up with leads consistently and professionally
Track outreach activity, responses, and next steps in a CRM or AI
Help identify strong clinic location opportunities based on parking, accessibility, neighborhood demand, pet owner traffic, and local community fit
Schedule calls or meetings with potential location partners
Communicate clearly with the team about promising locations, objections, and next steps
Requirements
Interest in business development, startups, partnerships, real estate, community outreach, or sales operations
Reliable transportation is required, as this role may involve visiting clinic locations or meeting with potential location partners in person.
Strong research and communication skills
Comfortable doing high-volume outreach and follow-up
Comfortable using AI tools such as Codex/Claude Code or similar tools for research, writing, and workflow support
Organized and detail-oriented
Comfortable using Phone, email, and basic CRM-style tracking
Able to work independently and manage follow-ups
Professional written and verbal communication skills
Experience with lead generation, appointment setting, community outreach, business development, or sales is a plus, but not required
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is not an aggressive closer. We are looking for someone who can find the right locations, reach out professionally, follow up consistently, and help create more opportunities for Vaccine Vets to host pop-up clinics.
This role is a strong fit for someone who wants early experience in startup growth, business development, location expansion, partnerships, and AI-assisted outreach.
Schedule
This is a part-time internship role. Most work can be done remotely, but candidates should be based in Southern California and available for occasional in-person meetings or clinic visits if needed.
Compensation
$20-25 per hour plus commission.
Commission opportunities may be available for qualified approved host locations, or successful clinic location partnerships, based on the company’s written commission plan.
Vaccine Vets provides affordable weekend pop-up vaccine clinics for dogs and cats across Southern California. Our mission is to make essential vaccines and preventive care more accessible, convenient, and affordable for pet owners.
