Job description
About The Role
TileBio is building a foundation model of pathology. We treat histology as a language of tissue and train models directly on raw, unlabelled whole slide images (WSIs) to learn the underlying structure of biology. Our system converts tissue into a sequence of learned tokens and trains transformer models to understand disease at scale. The technology works; now we need to put it in the hands of the people who can use it to discover and develop better medicines.
We are looking for a Business Development Lead to drive that effort in the US. You will be our first person on the ground, working directly with the founders to find out who needs what we've built, why, and how they buy. You will run the conversations, build the pipeline and set up the tools and processes that make it repeatable. This is a hands‑on role for someone early in their career who wants to learn fast, take real ownership, and grow with the company as our commercial team expands.
What You'll Do
Run market discovery: research target organisations and hold customer interviews with translational science, biomarker and digital pathology teams to understand their problems, workflows and buying processes
Turn what you learn into a clear picture of our best‑fit customers and use cases, and help sharpen our positioning and messaging
Build and manage our sales pipeline: target account lists, outbound outreach, CRM hygiene and regular pipeline reporting
Book and prepare first meetings, then work alongside the founders and scientific team to move opportunities through scoping, pilots and proposals
Support our US marketing presence: conference attendance (e.g. AACR, USCAP, Pathology Visions), event follow‑up, LinkedIn, content and webinars
Share market feedback with the product and science teams so it shapes what we build
What We’re Looking For
2–4 years in business development, sales, partnerships or a customer‑facing role, ideally in life sciences, biotech or healthcare technology
A life sciences degree (or equivalent experience) and the curiosity to get to grips with pathology and AI
Confidence reaching out to people you don’t know and holding credible conversations with scientists
Strong organisation and follow‑through: you keep a pipeline clean and never let a lead go coldComfort with ambiguity and a bias for action: you can work out what to do next without a playbook
Excellent written and verbal communication
Nice to Have
Experience with CRM and outbound tools (e.g. HubSpot, Salesforce, Apollo)
Exposure to digital pathology, computational pathology, AI/ML or biomarker discovery
Contacts across US pharma, biotech or CRO teams
Experience working at an early‑stage startup or with a team across time zones
What We Offer
Base salary of $120,000 to $160,000 (depending on experience), plus performance‑based commission and equity eligibility
Direct mentorship from the founders and a clear path to grow as the commercial team expands
The chance to shape the commercial strategy of a foundation model company from the ground floor
A culture that optimises for impact, takes ownership, and delivers
An environment that challenges ideas, not people, and values speed, clarity, and rigour
