Business Development ManagerSalary: ConfidentialLocation: Chicago, IllinoisRelocation Assistance: AvailableJob DescriptionPosition OverviewThe Business Development Manager is responsible for driving new domestic and international customer growth while supporting and expanding existing accounts. This role focuses on identifying client needs, designing customized transportation and logistics solutions, and delivering a high level of service throughout the customer lifecycle. The position owns a defined sales territory and is accountable for achieving revenue targets through strategic prospecting, relationship development, and solution-based selling across transportation, warehousing, and distribution services.This role plays a key part in shaping growth initiatives, strengthening long-term partnerships, and supporting the evolution of service offerings. Success in this position requires strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and a consistent commitment to results.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and execute weekly sales outreach activitiesBuild and manage a qualified prospect pipeline within an assigned territoryIdentify and pursue new business opportunities through outbound prospecting and cold callingMaintain and grow existing customer relationshipsSupport profitability initiatives through pricing awareness and account strategyAssist with the preparation and response to Requests for Proposal (RFPs)Develop and document customer-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Track, follow up, and manage all inbound and outbound sales leadsParticipate in pricing reviews and margin analysisPrepare and deliver sales presentations to prospective and existing clientsCollaborate with internal teams during sales meetings and strategy sessionsApply industry knowledge to strengthen customer relationships and expand account penetrationPartner with leadership to support market and territory growth strategiesNegotiate and coordinate tailored logistics solutions for customersRespond to customer inquiries related to rates, service options, and capabilitiesRequired Skills & QualificationsProficiency with business operating systems and standard software toolsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAdvanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office applicationsStrong organizational, time-management, and leadership abilitiesAbility to work independently or collaboratively in a team environmentProfessional, responsive, and customer-focused communication styleOpen to feedback and contributes positively to team cultureWillingness to support special projects and additional responsibilities as neededSelf-driven, goal-oriented, and motivated to exceed objectivesAbility to report results clearly to leadership in a fast-paced environmentMaintains confidentiality of sensitive informationQualificationsBachelors degree Minimum of 2 years of professional sales experience or freight forwarding experience with a hunter mentality Freight forwarding services experience preferred; Prior experience within transportation, third-party logistics, or related services strongly preferred Background selling FTL, LTL, or integrated logistics solutions preferredWhy is This a Great OpportunityVery reputable and profitable company that offers flexibility and personal growth.
