About this opportunity

Redtail Renewables lists this Business Development Manager opportunity in houston, Texas. Review the employer’s description below for duties, qualifications and application requirements.

Job description

Redtail Renewables is a private equity–backed renewable natural gas (RNG) developer focused on converting landfill gas into clean, low-carbon fuel. Our team has developed and financed multiple RNG projects across the U.S. in partnership with leading waste management companies, utilities, and institutional investors. Redtail combines disciplined project finance expertise with a mission-driven focus on sustainability, execution excellence, and long-term value creation.

Summary

The Business Development Manager drives Redtail's greenfield origination engine - building and maintaining a disciplined pipeline of landfill RNG and LFGTE opportunities, leading competitive RFP responses, and instilling CRM discipline across the commercial team. This role turns market outreach into a structured, high-quality funnel and ensures Redtail responds to origination opportunities quickly, professionally, and on strategy. It is a fit for a self-directed operator who can manage many parallel opportunities and hold a repeatable business-development process together.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Support landfill origination and outreach in coordination with commercial leadership, with a target of adding new Gas Rights Agreement (GRA) to the portfolio in line with strategic growth objectives.

Own and drive competitive RFP responses end to end — coordinating internal contributors (development, finance, legal, engineering & operations) to deliver complete, compelling, on‑time submissions.

Establish and maintain CRM discipline: keep pipeline data, contacts, stages, and actions items current so leadership has an accurate, real‑time view of the funnel.

Maintain a structured, high‑quality business‑development pipeline aligned to Redtail's BD standard operating procedures and funnel targets.

Conduct preliminary market and opportunity diligence — landfill gas fundamentals, counterparty background, interconnection and offtake context — to qualify opportunities before deeper investment.

Track waste‑major relationships and RFP calendars (e.g., Republic, WM, GFL, Waste Connections and municipal/county owners) and surface new entry points and cold‑outreach targets.

Prepare pipeline reporting, funnel summaries, and business‑development inputs for internal and board‑level materials.

Coordinate with development, finance, and legal teams to move qualified opportunities from origination toward letters of intent and GRA negotiation.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, environmental/energy, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

3–6+ years of experience in business development, origination, sales, or project development, ideally in energy, renewables, waste, infrastructure, or a related sector.

Demonstrated ability to manage competitive RFP or proposal processes and coordinate multiple internal contributors to a deadline.

Strong CRM and pipeline‑management discipline; comfort maintaining accurate opportunity data and reporting.

Excellent written and oral communication; able to produce clear, persuasive proposal content and executive‑ready summaries.

Highly organized and self‑directed, able to manage many parallel opportunities.

Preferred Skills & Experience

Familiarity with landfill gas, RNG, LFGTE, or biogas project development.

Exposure to gas rights agreements, offtake structures, or environmental attribute markets (RINs/RFS, LCFS).

Existing relationships with landfill owners, waste companies, municipalities, or county governments.

Experience with CRM platforms and building repeatable BD processes.

What Success Looks Like (first 12 months)

1-2 new GRAs advanced to LOI or execution.

A current, trustworthy CRM and pipeline that leadership relies on for decision‑making.

On‑time, high‑quality RFP submissions with a measurable improvement in response consistency.

Tangible contribution toward adding a new GRA to the portfolio.

Location: Houston, TX (Near I-10 & Hwy 6)
