Business Development RepresentativeAs a Business Development Representative, you are responsible for selling logistics transportation services to current and potential customers. Must actively seek out and engage customer prospects. Must have the ability to build and maintain relationships and negotiate agreements. Some travel may be required. A thorough understanding of the transportation industry is required.Duties/ResponsibilitiesIdentify and solicit new client opportunities.Develop and consult with current customer baseResponsible for growth of customer relationsManage customer service day to day operationsManage entire logistic information systems appropriatelyDevelop leads and cold call potential customersListens to customer queries patiently and find resolution to issuesManage and negotiate ratesAble to multitask and resolve issues in high pressure situationsResolve transportation problems with urgency and professionalismOther duties may be assignedEducation and ExperienceCollege degree in related field preferredPrevious experience in customer service and sales preferredKnowledge of trucking industry a requiredRequired Skills/AbilitiesExcellent listening skillsEnergetic and personableAbility to use critical thinking skillsAbility to interact and communicate effectively over the phone, through email, and face to faceAbility to recognize when action is necessary and to implement the required actions within a reasonable timeAbility to prioritize workflow to use time effectivelyAbility to perform mathematical calculations to determine transit timesAbility to use discretion and good judgementGood working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookPhysical RequirementsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, each essential duty and/or function satisfactorily.
