Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner (37.5 hours/week).
In this role, the successful candidate will provide quality, professional, cost-effective healthcare at Long Island Community Hospital. NPs serve as licensed independent practitioners (LIP), collaborating with physicians to deliver a broad range of medical services within their scope of training and licensure. They work across hospital departments, assisting in patient care, documentation, and discharge planning, and may perform surgical assisting and emergency trauma duties if qualified. The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and adherence to hospital policies and standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Assessment and Reassessment of Patients
Introduce/self as NP, assist with patient management, communicate effectively, perform assessments, order and interpret tests, prescribe medications, document care, formulate diagnoses, and develop care plans.
Perform technical procedures such as IV insertions, explain procedures to patients, and use sterile techniques when needed.
Maintain professional conduct, demonstrate technical and personal skills, work as part of a multidisciplinary team, and adhere to hospital policies and standards.
Participate in ongoing education, performance assessments, and quality improvement initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of an approved NP educational program in NY
Current NP certification from AANP or ANCC
Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees
NY State RN and NP licenses
Current BLS, ACLS, NYS prescription privileges, DEA, infection control certification
Membership in professional organizations (AANP, NPA)
Psychomotor skills, effective communication, attention to detail, physical ability to perform duties, and basic computer skills
Required Licenses: Nurse Practitioner-NYS
