Campus Safety OfficerNew Rochelle - New Rochelle, NY 10801OverviewSalary Range $18.00 - $18.20 Hourly Position Type Full Time Education Level High School/ EquivalentDescriptionIona University seeks Security Guards who will provide for the public safety of all members of the Iona Community and to protect life and property. The candidate will be responsible for:The safety and security of all members of the Iona Community and all University and personal propertyEnforcement of all New York State Laws and policies and guidelines of Iona University including the Code of Conduct and Parking and Traffic RegulationsThe strict adherence to the Department of Campus Safety Rules and Regulations and Manual of ProcedureResponding to all calls for service and answering all telephone calls in a prompt and courteous manner to assist the complainant and investigate all reported incidents. Make prompt notification to supervisor or Director for all unusual occurrencesThe strict enforcement of our booting and towing policies for vehicles parked in violation at the direction of a supervisor in accordance with our established policy and guidelinesConducting random patrol of all assigned posts and properly conducting access control while assigned to a fixed post by maintaining a high level of visibility. Campus safety officers are required to remain on their post at all times performing their duties until properly relievedBeing alert at all times while on duty and to carry out their duties with honesty and integrity and without prejudice. Campus Safety Officers must maintain the highest professional and personal standards at all timesEnsuring that all Campus Safety vehicles assigned to them are kept in safe and good mechanical condition. Check vehicles at the beginning of each tour of duty for any damage or required maintenance. Be able to operate a twelve passenger van as part of the Iona University Shuttle ServiceThe proper care and maintenance of all uniforms and equipment assigned to themProviding safety information to members of the Iona Community as requiredPerforming all other job duties and responsibilities as requested by supervisor and/or department headAdditional Details:Overtime Requirement: This role may involve mandatory overtime to meet the security needs of the campus. Candidates must be willing and able to work additional hours as necessary.QualificationsRequired ExperienceNew York State Security Guard Certification and must satisfactorily complete the 16 Hour In-Service Security Training CourseHigh School Diploma or GED.Possess good communication and human relations skillsPossess a valid driver's license with a clean driving recordAble to work in various weather conditions and on tours of assignmentAbility to lift and carry items up to 25 lbs.Must be able to stand for extended periodsVisa sponsorship is not available for this position.About Iona/EEO Statement:Founded in 1940, Iona University is a private, Catholic, coeducational institution of learning in the tradition of the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers.
