Job description
School Security SupervisorAssists school administration with supervision of students and security of school grounds with the goal of maintaining a safe school environment for students and staff at assigned school.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPatrols hallways, restrooms, parking lots and entrance and exit points at assigned schoolConducts perimeter checks for area assigned, e.g. checks doors, windows, gates, fences, lighting, etc.Checks student hall passes and assists students as neededEnsures all campus visitors are legitimately present on official businessEscorts students who violate school rules to appropriate school authoritiesAssists with maintaining control of students and intervenes during disturbances as directedConfers with the Principal on matters of concern as necessaryWrites incident reports as needed per established procedures on a timely basis and submitsKeeps a daily log of all related security activities and incidentsKeeps work area in a safe conditionKeeps guard shacks need clean and orderlyAssists law enforcement officers or other emergency personnel as directed by the PrincipalAttends safety meeting, training sessions and other related meeting as requested by the PrincipalResponds to all related emergency situations per established guidelinesKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of security related practices and proceduresAbility to safely restrain students if necessaryKnowledge of rules and standards of acceptable student conduct, health and safetyAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writingAbility to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situationsAbility to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community membersKnowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policiesAbility to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional responseQualifications & RequirementsEducation & Experience:High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Prior experience working with students in a school security setting preferredTraining in appropriate child-restraint techniques preferredCPR and first aid beneficialAny equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirementsComputer Proficiency: nonePhysical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
