Job description
Position Highlights
Provide independent cardiac anesthesiology services for complex cardiac surgical and procedural cases
Participate in weekday, weekend, and holiday coverage as required
On-call coverage: Approximately 1,872 hours/year
Call-back coverage: Approximately 416 hours/year
Collaborate closely with cardiac surgeons, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary care teams
Document anesthesia services in the VA electronic health record
Complete required VA/VHA training and comply with applicable VA policies and standards
Mandatory Qualifications
MD or DO
Completion of an accredited Anesthesiology Residency
Completion of a Cardiac Anesthesiology Fellowship
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology
Cardiac Anesthesiology specialization
Active medical license in any U.S. state or territory
Current BLS/ACLS certification
Current TEE (Transesophageal Echocardiography) certification/credential — MANDATORY
Demonstrated experience independently managing complex cardiac anesthesia cases
Ability to provide scheduled on-call and call-back coverage
Completion of VA credentialing and privileging requirements prior to start
Key Clinical Skills
Complex cardiac surgical anesthesia
Advanced hemodynamic monitoring
Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE)
Cardiac output monitoring
Independent perioperative management of high-acuity cardiac patients
Strong multidisciplinary collaboration
We are seeking an experienced Cardiac Anesthesiologist to provide specialized cardiac anesthesia services at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center (RMR VAMC).
Location: Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center
Setting: Onsite
Contract: 1 year + possibility of four additional 1-year extensions
