Job description

Ellis Medicine is seeking a Cardiac Internist to join the cardiovascular team at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, New York.

nThis is a unique hospital-based opportunity for a Board Certified/Board Eligible Internal Medicine physician who enjoys caring for medically complex patients and wants to practice in a dedicated inpatient cardiology consultation role.

nThe Cardiac Internist will work as an integral member of Ellis Medicine's established cardiovascular program, collaborating closely with more than 20 cardiologists and advanced practitioners. Rather than maintaining a traditional outpatient practice, this physician will focus on the inpatient evaluation, consultation, and medical management of patients receiving cardiovascular care at Ellis Hospital.

nnPractice as an integral member of the cardiovascular service while maintaining a focused Internal Medicine role

n

nnEvaluate and manage hospitalized patients with cardiovascular conditions and complex medical comorbidities

n

nnWork closely with cardiologists across general, interventional, electrophysiology, structural heart, and other cardiovascular subspecialties

n

nnStrong access to advanced cardiovascular services and subspecialty expertise

n

nnPredictable schedule with extended blocks of time off

n

n nClinical Responsibilities

nThe Cardiac Internist will provide dedicated inpatient medical support to the cardiovascular service, including:

nnnProvide inpatient Internal Medicine consultation for patients receiving cardiovascular care

n

nnEvaluate new cardiology consultations from hospital medicine, emergency medicine, surgery, and other inpatient services

n

nnPerform comprehensive medical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans

n

nnManage cardiovascular patients with significant medical comorbidities in collaboration with the patient's cardiologist

n

nnAssist with the medical management of conditions including heart failure, coronary artery disease, hypertension, atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias, valvular disease, and other cardiovascular conditions

n

nnProvide pre-procedural and peri-procedural cardiovascular evaluation and risk assessment

n

nnReview laboratory data, ECGs, imaging, telemetry, and other available clinical information to support patient management

n

nnCollaborate with cardiologists and advanced practitioners to coordinate comprehensive patient care

n

nnFacilitate communication among cardiology, hospital medicine, surgery, emergency medicine, and other consulting services

n

nnCommunicate treatment recommendations and care plans with patients and families

n

nnParticipate in discharge planning and transitions of care

n

n nThe Cardiac Internist will not be expected to perform invasive cardiology procedures and will work closely with cardiologists whenever specialty-level cardiovascular intervention or procedural management is indicated.

nQualifications

nnnBoard certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine

n

nnLicensed (or eligible) to practice in New York State

n

nnStrong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills

n

nnCommitment to compassionate, patient-centered care

n

nnHospital-based or inpatient medicine experience preferred

n

nnComfortable caring for medically complex hospitalized patients

n

nnInterest in cardiovascular medicine and multidisciplinary care

n

nnAbility to work effectively as part of a collaborative cardiovascular team

n nRecruitment Package

nEllis Medicine offers a competitive recruitment package designed to support your professional and personal transition to our organization, including:

nnnGuaranteed compensation of $382,200

n

nnThe posted salary reflects the starting range of total compensation and does not include productivity bonuses incentives related to quality and performance, extra shift incentives, and other forms of cash compensation as applicable to the position. Please note that this salary range is provided in accordance with State law and is subject to variation due to the factors noted above.

nn$15,000 starting bonus
