Locums - Centralia, Illinois General Cardiology Opening Position Overview
Start Date: November 2, 2026General Cardiology locum coverageDuration: Ongoing; anticipated 1 yearSolo MD coveragePatient Population: AdultsEMR: Epic Schedule
Monday-Friday: 40 hours/weekClinic hours: 8a-4:30p Monday-Thursday schedule may be considered to accommodate a 4-day workweekTime will be blocked each clinic day for inpatient consultationsInpatient consult volume typically averages 1-3/day Call
Telephonic after-hours call coverageLimited hospital presence expectedHospitalists may call regarding:Potential admissionsWhether patients can be admitted and evaluated by Cardiology the following morningWhether transfer to another facility is necessary Call burden is expected to be lightCall required approximately one week or a portion of each weekCall burden can be reassessed and adjusted after the first few rotations based on actual volume Clinical Responsibilities
Inpatient Cardiology consultationsOutpatient Cardiology clinicGeneral Cardiology management of:Coronary artery disease (CAD)Hypertension (HTN)Heart failure (HF) Read EKGsRead echocardiogramsSupervise stress testing Support Staff
