About the Facility This 433-bed Level I Trauma Center maintains established clinical infrastructure and protocols to support coordinated cardiothoracic surgery coverage across inpatient and operating room settings. The facility operates on-site and provides the resources necessary to facilitate quality care delivery for the cardiothoracic surgery service line throughout each assigned coverage period. On-site resources are in place to support continuity of care across all designated shifts and call assignments.
About the Facility Location Lexington is situated in the heart of the Bluegrass region and is home to over 500 horse farms and bourbon distilleries, including the only combination distillery and brewery on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. The area offers a range of attractions, from equestrian facilities such as the Kentucky Horse Park and Keeneland, to live music, art galleries, and outdoor experiences including a zipline canopy tour through the Kentucky River Palisades. Clinicians may also explore the Distillery District, specialty museums, and a variety of dining and entertainment options throughout the city.
About the Clinician's Workday Clinicians will provide cardiothoracic surgery coverage across inpatient and operating room settings on a day shift basis, with call and 24-hour call responsibilities required as a condition of this assignment. Call coverage is structured at 1-2 call days per week, with one weekend per month beginning Friday at 7:00 AM through Monday at 7:00 AM; weekend duties include inpatient rounds, procedures, and surgical coverage. Clinical responsibilities include first assisting in CABG, AVR, MVR, thoracotomy, and lung resection cases, as well as telemetry and ICU duties. Additional procedures include vein harvest and chest tube placement.
