Job Summary:

Methodist Healthcare System, the largest healthcare provider in South Texas, is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join a highly respected and growing cardiothoracic program in San Antonio, Texas.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a collaborative, high-volume surgical team with access to advanced technology, a robust referral network, and one of the most comprehensive heart and vascular programs in the region. We welcome both experienced surgeons and new fellowship graduates who are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and growing their careers within a nationally recognized healthcare system.

Position Highlights

Join an established and highly regarded cardiothoracic surgery practice with significant regional market presence

Perform a broad spectrum of adult cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures, including:

Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)

Valve repair and replacement

Aortic surgery

Thoracic oncology procedures

Opportunity to collaborate with an experienced multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, pulmonologists, intensivists, advanced practice providers, and surgical specialists

Participate in program development, quality initiatives, clinical research, and educational activities

Opportunity to mentor residents and fellows while contributing to the continued growth of the service line

Primarily practice at one Methodist Healthcare hospital location

Call expectations:

1:5 weekend call rotation

1:7 weekday call rotation

Qualifications

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery

Eligible for unrestricted Texas medical licensure

Experience in routine and complex coronary surgery, valve repair/replacement, and structural heart procedures preferred

Experience with thoracic surgery, minimally invasive lung surgery, and minimally invasive cardiac surgery is welcomed but not required

Strong commitment to clinical excellence, teamwork, innovation, and patient-centered care

New fellowship graduates are encouraged to apply and will be fully considered

Experienced candidates seeking leadership, program development, or mentorship opportunities are also encouraged to apply
